Women's Day event - Sneak Peek

Just a reminder that there are only 11 days left until it is Women's Day here in South Africa.  An official public holiday to celebrate women and all things feminine.  The ideal excuse to go on an outing with all the special women in your life!?

Here is a sneak peak of the project designed for the event.

The papers are the 6" x 6" petite papers  from Webster's Pages and have very much the same feel as those used in Elna's "Feminine" post.  They were especially flown in from the USA for this event...

It will be great if we could spend the morning with you...

Very Feminine

Hi Everyone
Here are the three cards that I've made with Webster's paper, very feminine with a soft romantic feel to it.
To create the frame for the sentiment I 've used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels.

Never throw away any old music sheet paper or odd pieces of lace.
There is always a place you can use them.

Stamps used for this card are from the Crafty Secrets range.
The doily was sprayed with Tattered Angels and the swirl is from a Tim Holtz die, painted and then covered with a layer of Rock Candy.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

Roses are Pink

By now you should know that both Elna and I have a "thing" for canvas-based projects...

This inchie canvas was a project that I did in a class with one of my mentors (Niki Zipp) and it now has a place of honour in my "Rose Bathroom".  The squares measure 1, 5" each and they were mounted onto a 8" x 8" stretched canvas that I've painted with acrylic paint.

So gather all the goodies that you've collected of your favourite flower(s) and make some art!

Materials used include a mini domino, roses made from silk, paper, fabric and metal, a mosaic mirror tile framed with bling, a dried flower covered with dimensional glaze, ric-rac, quilting fabric, bits from rose-themed greeting cards, and a few other things.

Thank you for stopping by...

I've got them!

I have found them and they are gorgeous. They are perfect and they were on sale. I am a very happy chappie. I would like to know what you think about them............

It was quite difficult to take a photograph of the shoes. After a few failed attempts I put one shoe in my great-grandfathers suitcase and used natural light to get the best result. The organza ribbon at the back is like the cherry on the top.

Saturday is the last class for the Romantic/Vintage look cards, and then I will share them with you.
Have a great weekend.

Birthday Cards Received

Being part of an on-line "support group for rubber-stampers" means that the postman is a regular visitor when it is your birthday...

I was blessed with a number of handmade cards this month!

This one is from Amanda Harrod - I just love the image of the laughing woman.

Susan Nel used an embossing folder to create this beauty.

One of our members lives in New Zealand, and Tilly McLeod sent me this beautiful pastel card with a butterfly theme.

Wishing you a week filled with love and laughter...

Shoes for a wedding

Every women knows that there is a huge difference between a size 7 shoe and a size 4 shoe. My feet are small and I've got issues with shoes. I like comfortable shoes that I can stand in for the whole day, leather shoes with soft innersoles are great. But for some occasions you cannot wear 'those' comfortable shoes, like for a wedding. Today I went looking, because my sister's daughter is getting married soon and I need good looking shoes. My heels are very seldom higher than 4cm, but smart shoes never has medium heels unless they look like shoes for the over 60's, (and I am not there yet!)

So, back to my issues: I tried on a pair of good looking shoes, but the heels were very high, at least 8cm, so I pulled out the box with the size 7 shoes and put the size 4 next to it ..... and the heels were the same height! WHY?
What are the shoe designers not getting? Or is it the manufacturers? Are they saving money by using the same heel for every shoe? And while I am at it, Why don't they make half sizes any more!?
Ok, now that I've shared that with you, I feel better, but I still don't have shoes for the wedding... but I will keep looking.
Have a great week.

49 Today!

Today is my 49th birthday!  The last time I am forty-something...

I am grateful for all the countless blessings and special people that have graced my life, especially my friends, family and the people that I've met through my creative endeavors.

This is the birthday card that Elna made "Just for Me"...

Don't you just love how she has used a heart-shaped pin?

Thank you for your role in making this an extra special day...

Terrific Turquoise ATCs

I belong to a local support group for rubber-stamping fanatics and one of the members is hosting an ATC swap which is due by Wednesday.  The theme is "Terrific Turquoise" and we have to include some form of rubber-stamping on our works of art.

This is a close-up of my 28 creations...

I will post the complete card once I've received confirmation from Debbie Harris that all the contributors have received theirs.  (I do not want to spoil the fun for them!?)

Elna is hosting our "Cute as a Button" bracelet class on Saturday and I will do the same on Tuesday here at my studio.

Hope you have an amazing weekend...
