Shanya's File Folder

Yes, I told you about this "thing" I have this month, this file folder thing.

Shanya is turning 12 next week and I made her a file folder and three cards
out of a 12"x12" craft paper, one plain card stock and three patterned papers.
Her birthday card was also made out of the same paper.
(Shanya is the little girl, that I have been doing remedial lessons with
for the past two and a half years. Yesterday was my last day with
her as a tutor and I gave her, her birthday present.
Last year I made her a button bracelet.)

The outside and inside patterned paper was stitched to the craft paper
with a sewing machine. The numbers on the outside and the houses
on the inside was double mounted and attached with foam squares.

Because of the double sided paper the cards were quick and easy.
The paper clip was decorated with a ribbon and an acrylic bead.
Tie some ribbons were you want them and there you go
.... another one finished!

Tissue Paper Rosette

I am for ever gathering tissue paper! Why I don't know. But you can decoupage with it, stamp on it, make flowers out of it, wrap gifts in it and when you are hungry, I am sure you can eat it!

Here is the: How to make a paper rosette out of tissue paper.
Tissue paper of your choice
 Wide double sided tape
4cm circle punch
thin double sided tape
2.5cm circle punch
ribbon
 craft paper
small scissors

Punch a 4cm circle out of craft paper, cover it with double sided tape and cut out again.

Cut a 5cm strip of tissue paper, put down some thin double sided tape on one edge.

Fold the paper in half.
Now remove the backing of the tape and press down on the paper.

Fold the strip of paper in four and make small cuts into the paper,
but not on the side of the double sided tape.

Cut along the whole length of the paper.
Open it up.

Remove the backing of the double sided tape on the circle.
Start laying the paper down on the outside of the circle and
make a small fold in the tissue paper every cm.
In that way it is easy to form the circle.

Lastly, punch a 2.5 cm circle from another piece of paper.
Add some ribbon underneath the circle before gluing it down.

Now you can even make a whole bunch of them and string then up.
Have a go at this, it is super easy.

Altered File Folder

This September will be a "file folder month."
We will be teaching a file folder class at Hobby-X, and I was asked to do a project for  "Craftwise" with Cosmo Cricket Paper and I chose to do a .... File Folder! Which I enjoyed tremendously! So.... then I tried it with the 7 Gypsy paper. All of these projects are different, so you need to have a look at all of them.

On the front cover: A stamped and sprayed tag with some flowers.

Inside are quite a few things: Two decorated paper bags, to give away as cards.

Two craft envelopes

Three cards and two tags.
Everything fits into the altered file folder and it will be a wonderful gift to a friend.

In the September/October 2011 issue of Craftwise, is the whole tutorial
on how to make the file folder with the Cosmo Cricket, "Odds and Ends" range of paper.
Buy the issue and start creating!

"Constructing" a Care Package

Here are a few ideas for putting together a "Care Package"...

For this project we've used papers (mainly) from Teresa Collins' Timeless range.

Add to that some rubber-stamped tags and index cards ...

... a few small note-cards "prettied up" with bits of paper and die-cut elements...

...even more decorated  note-cards and envelopes...

... cover a notebook and make a bookmark from the decorative papers and die-cut elements...

... decorate a paper bag with some ribbon, a few flowers and more decorative papers...
and you end up with a stunning handmade gift for the special women in your life!!

Thank you for visiting and may you have a very creative week!
